Ang Mo Kio central, after so many years, finally got it’s own shopping centre! It’s build on the plot of land where the old Ang Mo Kio bus interchange is. Many years backed, when i’m still in polytechnic, they tore down the building, proposing to build an air-con bus interchange over it (that’s what i heard). But the construction process stopped after around 1year, leaving behind a plot of untouched construction site surrounded by fence. It’s in that state after i graduated, when i am serving NS, and still so after i ORDed. Until around 1 year ago did it start to continue it’s construction, and it’s finally “almost” ready! Currently, only the B1 and B2 levels are opened. though it’s still quite empty at B1. The place is quite big, around the same size as Junction 8. A few shops are already opened, like Converse, Baleno, IP Zone, etc and quite a few other shops i can’t remember, can start shopping already, haha. Anyway, people have started shopping there already. However, i feel like the centre area is too spacious, like waste of space, should have put some shops in the centre area. B2 level is very crowded with people, mainly because NTUC have shifted there, and most of the shop space are already occupied. The NTUC is one of the biggest around i think, it’s even named FairPrice “Xtra”. Other than normal grocery items, it also sells clothes and other stuffs, much like the Carrefour or the previous KMart, but of course lesser items. Still way to catch up. This level is a level for foodstuff, other than NTUC, there’s quite a number of shops like breadtalk, jollibean, bengawan solo, etc. The centre of the walk way is occupied with a row of eateries selling finger food like donuts, chocolates, sausages, dim sum, etc etc. There’s also a chinese herb shop, a digital electronic shop, VCD shop and even a fengshui item shop. Too bad, i don’t think they are going to build a cinema there, probably because Jubilee entertainment centre is still around, but the cinema quality is not very good. Anyway, feel like a shopping centre is not complete without a cinema (Personal preference). Can’t wait for it to be 100% done! powered by performancing
