While i was exploring the chinatown people's park area, i came across the building called "The Majestic". Well, it looks new, but definitely not Majestic. Seems like it's not doing very well, the 2nd floor is totally empty, and really not much people, when just outside at people's park, there's so many people.
Anyway, the whole of the 3rd storey is occupied by Popular - Popular Majestic.

Unlike the other older chinese popular stores which are stereotyped old and boring, this one has a more classy feel, the chinese way. Anyway, the entrance looks good.

Well, all the books inside are in chinese! They got books of different categories like culinary, media related, business, computer, psychology, philosophy, fiction, current affairs, etc etc..... Magazines also, but all in chinese, think they are imported from either Taiwan or China.
With its wide range of categories, it gives me a feeling like borders, though this is not as big. Nevertheless, there are quite a few people just stand there to read the books just like what people do in Borders. Thanks to the fact that they didn't shrink wrap the books, people are free to browse and read everything.

Unlike the other popular stores, they don't have school textbooks, but they do have a section for stationeries.

What quite impress me are the chinese fiction books. I'm not quite of a chinese book reader, and i always though chinese books are just filled with text only in top down fashion and usually on some boring topics with boring storylines.
Well, think i'm wrong. There are quite a few fiction books with interesting titles and some simple graphics. Like the "The Little Prince" type of story books, they have very few words, and usually one page is filled with graphics. Hmm.... i think these type of books quite cool and cute! Haha. Maybe next time i'll get one.
