I always hear people complained, "cheated by taxi driver. he din go by meter and charge me RMXX...."

But why people still go there? shopping, nice food, cheap petrol... We know jb is kinda chaotic, high crime rate city. SO 1st tip: dun go there unless u are prepared.

2nd tip: learn some malay, those easy one, u may need it one day. or better go with a friend who knows malay.

3rd tip: if a restaurant wants to overcharge u: (I never see hawker overcharge people.) but restaurant WILL.
SHOUT! LOUD LOUD
tat's the only way. the owner will be scared if other customers know.

4th tip: if a shop wants to overcharge u: BARGAIN. if u dunno how to bargain, go shopping center la

5th tip: if a taxi driver wants to overcharge you: let him overcharge. wat???
u know what jb people say? singaporeans are rich but they are damn stingy. why? you got to know this: jb goverment dun give a shit when the taxi drivers (mostly CHINESE) are suffering when the petrol prices keep going up. THEY NEVER adjust the taxi meter rate. So if a taxi driver always charge people by the meter, his wife and children are going to starve. If u understand how difficult their situation, then u know they are not unreasonable by not going by meter.

Next time if u are taking a taxi in jb and when the driver dun go by meter, roughly gauge the distance and the price like you take a cab in singapore, convert to RM. they are roughly the same. if the driver charge higher than that, just give him your price, say this should be standard rate.

DUN ARGUE WITH HIM about not going by meter, they will get really frustrated and angry somemore.
