high tech gadget always has problem. this one, whenever there is problem it costs you money.

  1. Forget to tap when alighting. this is the biggest loophole they are exploiting and they are unwilling to admit. they deduct you a fare assuming you alight at the last stop. Is this fair to the consumer?
  2. Prevent you from tapping. When the bus reaches the bus stop, the card reader is not activated. You have to wait or shout at driver. If you don't have time to wait, they charge you full fee!
  3. Not sure what this problem is called: when you want to alight and tap your card, the card reader beeps you and tells you to board in front???? What does that mean, as if it thinks I am boarding. And how much it charges me for the fare, only God knows.
  4. Checking Ez-Link Card? while you are dozing off, a conductor wakes you up and says he wants to check your Ez-Link Card. Why introduce Ez-Link in the first place?

 Ez-Link Card
Saturday, 27 January 2007 - Written by Ken
Hi. Just to share my 2 cents worth. There was once I was sure that I tapped at the front. I took the bus at the interchange and alighted in about 5 or 6 stops after that. The card reader displayed error when I tried to alight. The aunties at the back were impatient as I was hindering the bus from proceeding to the next stop.I moved to the front due to "popular demand" by the aunties. When I tapped, its a new ride. The last I checked, the deducted the full fare as if I took from the interchange to the end. How much extra money do they get? Lots.

Here are some of my thgts over your concerns:

1) It isn't fair for users especially the elderly. I often witness them either forget to tap or tap on top of the designated "tap" area.

2)The bus co wants to prevent users from tapping way early b4 they alight, hence charging a lower fee. Long ago, they often catch users abusing their system. Skilfully, they tap as soon as they board the bus.

3)When the reader prompts you to go in front of bus to tap, means that you did not tap properly or their system did not capture your entry.

4) This is to provide jobs. They cannot sack the conductors overnight. They hav earned their inspector position after yrs of being bus captains.Predictably, soon or later, these conductors wld be kindly asked to retire.
