Deserts? Sing? You can’t be serious, can you? Who in the world would want to be named after piles of sand and dust? But be it a marketing device or simply, Taiwanese singer-songwriter, Ms Deserts Zhang Xuan’s individuality. I find it hard to deny this 26 year old, talent. Not just another turn of the mill cutesy Taiwanese ‘Ou Xiang Ju’ or T-pop by-product, this leading Chinese music industry alternative musician screams (coincidentally that’s also 1 of her songs: and surprisingly it’s a cheerful, loving piece, one will put on repeat mode) talent in her latest album “qing ai de, wo hai bu zhi dao” which is her second outing.
Hailing from . If you’re sick of the usual Mando-pop offering in the market, make it a point to check out both her albums at all CD shops and support this unique singing sensation. Recommended tunes from both albums include: the ever-popular catchy ‘Bao Bei in the day’, the intense, emotive ‘Tao Ren Yan De Zi’ along with enduring ‘Scream’ and the cool ‘Wu Juan Tai’ check out the 2 videos of from her 2005 and 2007 offerings; contrasting yet resonating a same feel - the feel of quality music, finally.
