I was actually kinda excited about watching TMNT the movie, anticipating the relive of my childhood with our four all-familiar turtles Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello. But perhaps my expectations was too high due to the hype among my friends about the movie, I did not quite enjoy the movie. I felt that it did not do justice to our four heroes with the short screening duration (90minutes). Also, it was more of a 'touch and go' for Michelangelo and Donatello as they came out only in the final fighting scene, whereas Leonardo and Raphael had a few more fighting scenes and sometimes with Casey. The humour from Michelangelo was just right to spice up the movie at times when it was just about the 'conflict' between Leonardo and Raphael wanting to be the leader. Their story could have been further developed instead of merely ending at the point when Leonardo was caught and Raphael returning to his rat sensei for 'forgiveness'. The fighting scene between the super-ninja fighting team and the ancient monsters was too short, in my opinion. It wasn't long enough to make me go 'wow' but instead, it left me wanting more. Actually, the voiceovers for the characters were also one of the main factors that pulled me into the cinema to watch TMNT, especially when I heard that Zhang Ziyi was one of the voices. However, the amount of time and also the number of words she spoke were rather minimal (My ears might be playing tricks on me cos I thought I heard her say 'stop' in Chinese ? at one pt of time), but credit should still be given to her and also the makers of the movie for all the voiceovers such as Chris Evans (Casey) and Sarah Michelle Gellar (April). Well, I guess there might be a sequel to TMNT as people just can't get enough of our ninja turtles from this movie! Official Website here.
