.jpg) Just watched this show yesterday and decided to give a review on it... Step Up 2 The streets is actually a sequel to the movie 'Step Up' shown in 2006. I didnt get to watch the first movie so am unable to give a comparison between the two.
In Step Up 2 the Streets, the show is about this 16 yr old orphan girl (Andie) who was a street dancer with a notorious crew 410. Being a rebellious girl, she was given the choice of going to her aunt in Texas or going to the elite school - MarylandSchool of the Arts by her mum's best friend (Sarah).
Because of the school, she was kicked out of crew 410 and eventually forms a new crew with the students of MarylandSchool, including the Chase Collins, the best dancer in the school. They aim to compete against the 410 in Baltimore's underground dance battle, The Streets.
The music and the street dance of the movie was fantastic. There were a lot of stunt and break dance was also included in the street dance. The music can get you to feel like dancing with them and the dancing received much praises from reviews.
However, It was a tough decision for the director – to choose actors or people who can dance. He chose the latter and as such, the acting of the people in this show was not impressive. In addition, the storyline was rather common and you would have expected the ending halfway through the show. There was only a slight and brief touch of romance between Andie and Chase.
All in all, I will still recommend you to watch it if you are keen to watch the nice and cool street dancing moves. Anyway, most audiences will watch dance shows because they want to see the dance moves..If you are looking for acting in a movie, I guess you can choose other shows.
