Disclaimer = Please go through this review only if you are open-minded... and I really mean OPEN-MINDED.
If you can accept transfixing scenes on the big screen.......like anal intercourse, incest intercourse, hetero/bi/homosexual or heterobi-threesome kissing intercourses.....woW, you are one of the rare ones in the still-conservative Singapore, and you are welcome to watch "Savage Grace".
Another book-turned-film movie, "Savage Grace" is indeed a shocking one! After watching it...i felt confused....dumbfounded that something like that can really happen to the very rich?!
Okok, this non-fiction story tells of the heirs of the guy who invented plastic, yes, plastic...the ultra-useful synthetic polymer - the Baekeland family. Succinctly, they became really rich after their invention.....however, the movie shows how the rich can decline....and degrade....it shows how the rich get devoured of their moralitiez....
This is the Movie poster...
It gives me the impression that the very super rich are too free to be involved in immoral and convoluted relationships, with people in and out of their own family.
It features how the rich seem to own broken families...
erM, the whole thing is just so sad and tragic!!
This is the original book by Natalie Robins and Steven M. L. Aronson...perhapz this book will give a clearer picture of what happened.
the movie iz hard to understand....and some parts are seriously unclear. However...I try to give you what I got from the show.
Babara is married to Brooks, the heir of the plastic family.....and gave birth to Tony. The family ties are ultra superficial...they speak in riddles...force one another to do things unwillingly....attend social functions late at night.....duH.
Tony grew up as a young homosexual....despised by Brooks, who snatched Tony's "girlfriend", and abandoned Babara and Tony.
Things get confusing....cuz they kept moving from country to country within Europe.......Paris...London....etc.....and still Brooks and that "vixen" seem to stay around no matter what. Perhaps shifting was to change a new environment....to start afresh, but it all leads to misery.......
Babara tried to be strong again by being a painter? Anywayz, in the end....she incested with Tony....and Tony ended up manslaughtering Babara?!
Are you confused???
Ok, I think Tony is driven mad....by the many undesirable changes in his life.
Seriously....why didn't they reach out for some counselling?!
~~~~~~~~~~
The earlier scenes are fragmented and confusing....hard to put an overall picture together.....and some scenes make me go ??? maybe.....my level of understanding is too amateur.
oh....the most shocking scene would be the threesome sexing of Babara, Tony, and Babara's visiting friend....Sam. I was truly transfixed by that scene......gosH, their lives are messed up, I think they may not even know what's going on......and as for Sam, what's he thinking hooking up with both the mother and the son?! heH.......ok, maybe i'm conservative bah, but hey! That is just too...........immoral.
~~~~~~~~~~
eyecAndiez are inevitable for every shoW!!!!!! and for this one...we shAll look @ the above-mentioned threesome!
Babara = Julianne Moore.....well-maintained through the show. but her skin is kindA freckly.....
Tony = Eddie Redmayne.....like mother like son, he's very freckly too.....kindA emaciated i feel....and he looks alot nicer in Google images compared to in the movie.
Sam = Hugh Dancy.....my friend kept saying this guy is very handsome whenever he appeared in the show....but she covered her face during the thressome scene...hahAaaa.....
So, can you imagine the above three eyecAndiez "sexing" on the same bed? well.....you don't have to imAgine, cuZ they did in the movie.....
thiZ show gAve me shocking insightz into the richy ricH.....and i am glAd i am juZ an ordinary persoN.........the cast did a good job portrAying the weird characterz...within a weird storyliNe.....oK, 4/5...!!
