瑞恩, previously known as 芮恩, the actress we see on Channel 8, has a whole new album《共和国》released, today. I am biased; not biased for, but biased against. I never did see RuiEn as an exceptional singer; in fact I see her as an Actress, an Artiste, seldom as a Singer. I read this in one of the Chinese forums, “她（瑞恩）再次出专辑，肯定是歌迷唤出来的”. This is a locally made album, targeted only for the small local market, so it would be unfair to expect the same level of budget or resources allocated to this project, yet, perhaps constraints are what shape creativity and the basic fundamentals, the fundamentals of making music from the heart. Right from the start, yes I do know that the lyrics are penned by RuiEn herself, but so what? That's her "job" as the lyricist. I am listening to music, there isn't a need for everyone to know her world, what is core to this whole thing, should still be the music, the songs. Singers, Composers, Lyricists and Producers, they are merely engineers to the greater notion of Music; and I must say, I sense sincerity in the music, in the album. I don't fancy "studying" lyrics, I'm such a forgetful person that I would merely enjoy the feel of the song. I still must insist that it is indeed interesting that we can know more of what RuiEn think via her lyrics, but a music album is still a music album, that should not be the chief focus; music is still the main lead. Frankly, if I am not a supporter of RuiEn, I would not have realised that she is releasing an album, neither would I give her album a chance by purchasing a copy to review. I won't see it as a regret for missing out such an album, but I would certainly find it a pity, a pity that I would never realise that I missed out on a pretty good deal. In this commercial world where many albums are introduced to sustain a celebrity's popularity than to make genuine music, this album, is back to the basic - MUSIC. A pity that the album only consist of 8 new tracks, with 3 additional remixes; but I must say, the 2nd remix, remix version of "青蛙" (track 10) is rather a small surprise, I kind of much prefer this to its original (track 2). "慢舞" (track 3) is the closing theme song we hear on the AIDS drama, 不凡的爱; nothing much to comment on but I must say, the lyrics really kinda interesting. "穿反" (Track 5) is honestly, one track that attracts me a lot. Love at first "sight", that basically describes it all. From the melody, music arrangement, vocals, lyrics and feel, honestly, you would be surprised this is from a Made in Singapore combi, comprising of RuiEn and Taz. The lyrics put forth a very nice and interesting thought, concept, story; the melody and vocals, its complementary, I can't say much except that this combi is very easy to accept yet it would definitely be unfair to say that its an easy song to handle, in fact, I am impressed by the handling of vocals in this song. I thought we would need singers like 林凡, songbirds who can popularize and sing good the songs, but never make it as a popular singer because the only thing they possess is a good set of vocals. This song makes me see RuiEn as a Singer. "穿反" is my top recommendation. In fact just for this song, I can say that the album is honestly, worth purchasing, but that would be an understatement to the effort of the whole production, so I shall refrain from saying so. In any case, if more of our local music production can belt out such sincere tunes, I don't see why we cannot break the deadlock of our market constraint. 瑞恩(previously known as 芮恩) has released a whole new album 《共和国》，selling exclusively at CD-RAMAs, per copy of album comes with a free poster, a set of postcards and is priced at $16.95. 8 new tracks with 3 more remixes, an album completely penned by the singer, 瑞恩, herself.
