I managed to catch this movie over the weekend. WIthout giving the plot away, I would say that this movie is pretty enjoyable. If I were to describe it with three words, they would be "slick", "humorous" and "smooth".
For the ladies, the "Ocean's" trilogy presents always present at least two persuasive reasons to catch the movies: they come in the form of "George Clooney" and "Brad Pitt" (sorry Matt Damon). For the guys, we will still have a good time watching these smooth operators charm ladies. Interestingly though, a subplot in the movie that involves charming a lady did not involve them. Matt got the job instead. Watch out for "Gilroy", it is hilarious, even if somewhat cheesy.
I enjoyed the movie mainly because of its ability to be slick and smooth. The plan to literally, "break the Bank", is brilliantly conceived and executed. As the plot unfolds itself, the audience is kept on the edge of the seat hanging onto every word, for fear losing the plot ( I was on 'high alert' throughout the movie). I like the director's way of presenting the movie because it is kept fast paced, so there is hardly any low points, and the mood builds and builds until it climaxes as the plan is finally executed on the hapless villian, Mr Bank. I also find the music adequate and I tend to think that it played a background, but important role in bringing out the right mood for the relevant scenes in the movie.
A less important but still valid reason that made the movie enjoyable is the humour interjected into the movie. It is not exactly slapstick, but borders on comical at times. Watch out for "Oprah", and as mentioned, the "Gilroy" moments. Overall, I give it a four out of five. It is pretty good entertainment for the weekend but not quite yet in the collector's item category.
