One chinese magazine commented: "周杰伦,还是看的比听的好". I don't agree with the notion in general terms, but I have to admit, for "Jay 2007 The World Tours Live Performance", it is indeed the case that the visuals are better than the audio aspects. The concert's poster hinted strong presence of chinese flavoured songs and looks somewhat Transformer-ish. Indeed, the opening to the concert, a 20,000 filled audience in an open air stadium, was Transformer-ish. Metal Bridges, of 1 man's width, broke into 3 segments, a total of 4 of such, moved and grooved as though the stadium's concert stage had Bumblebee hiding behind. It was way awesome to start the concert with robotic dance with robotic arms. The opening track was 黄金甲. As commented in my CD review of this concert, this was not a good choice. Firstly, imagine you are one of the audiences there, not only is it a widely known but not that popular song, you gotta stay "high" although you would probably be laughing your lungs out for Jay spotting such a CMI hairdo. But I must admit, the difference in Jay is his stage presence. He appears with an uncomfortable hairdo, but with a confident look on his face, fitting of the current title of the "King of Asian Pop" some media has linked him with. Jay as a performer to current Asia, was like Elvis was to the World back then, as Jay was drawn links to the famous Elvis King, flattered by the TIME magazine, a couple of years back. 无双. It did helped a lot that the concert's stage had many secret entrances planned. In the same song, at this moment you wonder where exactly is Jay and you spot in right at the front of the extended stage, rising up. And at the other moment, where has he gone to again? He's now found rising at the very back of the stage. Wonderful surprise element. Imagine a weird Hairdo with in Streetwear, you would probably laugh your Mmm Mmm out. Haha. 不能说的秘密, it's surprising that the audio reception in DVD was clearer than in the CD. The sounds are so much better here than in the audio disc. 退后. Listening to such clear rendition of his songs, I can't help but wonder why is he missing out on TW's golden melody awards Best Performing Male Singer award for 8 years. Has his strong stage presence and off side news neglected the attention that should be duely paid on his vocals? Surely his army of supporters aint deaf as to backing him if he can't sing. 甜甜的. Oh boy does he looks cute! Although as I said, his Singapore rendition of 甜甜的was even cuter, I did have the urge to pinch his cheeks when he flashes his cheeky looks while singing this track in the album. He's still the "boy" we loved from 8 years back. This taiwan version is a little quiet, I can't stop comparing with the Singapore version, not when he was hopping all across the stage at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. And we are now bought to the Piano Prince's performance, with 最长的电影. Oh! His hair style is back to normal! Haha. Oh~ How mersmerising his voice is. You feel as though he is sucking you into the movie with his music, the reason why he has swept across the continent with girls going gaga over him. Surely, this is a vocal's king's performance, talented with music on his ever confortable piano. I can actually foresee him 20years down the road, taking the challenge fitting of vocal supremes such as Fei Yu-Qing, Lisa Wang etc, performing with Singapore Chinese Orchestra live, the presence of strong vocals definitely necessary. 蒲公英的约定. I still wonder, why is it that this DVD has such clear and strong vocals recorded which the audio CD does not. It's a little weird watching him performing this track though. His accompanying band has left him to solo with his voice and piano, with the drummer coming only mid way. His voice was as clean as his face was, zits-free. "学音乐的小孩不会学坏". 白色风车. In a black glittery suit with sliver tie, and a fringe slightly highlighted with daring purple, you wonder if you are seeing a company's director performing. Indeed, company's director he is, of his own managing and production company JVRmusic, and no wonder he is affectionately known as 周董. Just sing like this for 30 tracks, even without fanciful stage or clothings, I assure the audience would still go on as usual. Its a pity 菊花台was not performed with him on the 古筝.What confidence he had! "呛" that was the piano duet Jay had with Yu Hao from Nan Quan Ma Ma, the guy whom he sparred with in his movie, Secrets. The opening to this sparring was so DAMN HILARIOUS. They plotted that Yu Hao actually was jealous with Jay for snatching the attention of 大妮, their nanny, a fairly plump lady who appeared in Jay's 牛仔很忙MV. The exciting piano sparring was a short less than 1 minute performance that got everyone yearning for more. They next got up and Jay, in hip hop street wear exclaimed, "不要以为弹钢琴的不会跳舞". They went on to 呛 each other in never heard before RAP, which was really interactive and surprisingly. clear and understandable. Jay then went on to DANCE LOCKING!!! LOCKING!! JAY AND DANCE!!! A somewhat Mission Impossible 3 years back, now confidently displayed though you would not compare him with Show Luo. Still, his dance does looks like Dance now. And he did a little break Dance! In purple Checkered old english Suit, he looks way too cute for 麦芽糖, his stage presence, hops, voice were so cute~ With lotsa clowns and performers alongside, it was a hellaluva carnival! And he does look like a boy in daddy's suits. Haha! OH MY GOD!!! He spotted those cap artists don, and he skipped his way out from the side of the stage, still dress in his purple checkered suit. OH BOY IS HE CUTE CAN?!! He looks like a school boy who has just gotten a big lollipop from mummy on his way to school! And other than skipping his way out, he ran a little in mini steps, like a school boy late for school. He is way too cute!!! And guess the track, the music best fitting for such? It's the very kiddish-cowboy-themed 牛仔很忙!!! And he showed of his machine gun lips in 不用麻烦了不用麻烦了, not to mention his cute cow boy dance steps!!! I swear all girls down the stage, all girls who in his army, anyone of them, would want to rush up and hug him. Changing and sizzling the song is ever his old but exciting trick, as heavily prevalent in this track too. This review is getting a little too long, and it's only the first half of the DVD. I swear I did not plan to review it thus long, nor for it to be 2 parts, but it's way too cool! In fact, this is my first time watching the DVD since i bought it a month back! I had reckon it to be a collectible but not worth watching DVD, but I made a serious mistake with this!!! Just based on the first half, I swear its worth that 20 odd bucks of yours to get this DVD. If you have missed his concert, get this. If you have watched his concert, damn, but all the more you should get this! I promise this DVD is worth the price just by listening to it as you would would with an Audio CD. Not to mention the ever eye catchy visuals present in this DVD. You dont belong to this era if you cant appreciate this. Jay is Cute!!! PS. I swear that 2stars rating of my CD review of this concert was not wrongly rated, nor is this 5stars rating for his DVD.
