Arctic Tale....poster.
When I saw the above poster....I thought it'z a cartoon like Finding Nemo....or perhaps Ratatouille.....perhaps a story about a baby polar bear and the mother bear, etc......and as a total cartoon lover, I so wanted to watch this movie....
However, my friend told me it's not a cartoon @ all!! The polar bears and everything are genuine! The bears don't speak....and the story is narrated. Yes, Arctic Tale is a documentary by the National Geographic Society.
I'm always marvelled by Nature...I love to watch documentaries and thus, I went for this movie....I'm glad I did cuZ i'm truly fascinated by how the whole thing was filmed....*sAlute!!!!!*

Nanu with her mother and her brother...
The show tells of Nanu, a baby polar bear....how she's raised and trained together with her brother by their mother....up in snow mountain.....how they struggled to stay alive in the cold arctic...
Then another main character will be Sila, a baby walrus......who is a rare offspring for the walrus herd....and how she's protected by her mum and aunty........

A Walrus...juz in case you forgot how one looks like...
Tragic falls on these arctic animals cuz of the changing weather on Earth....supposedly caused by Global Warming.......delaying the winter season, and even warming up the winter season....softening the ice capz....
Ok, this is not a Geography lesson ok? And....not a Science lesson as well...!!!
Anywayz...their habitats are changed, and their habitual lifestyles are affected as well!
Though hunting is natural....it's kind of cruel to see bloddshed amongst the pure whitish snowy setting.
The saddest parts are the deathz of Nanu's brother (due to hunger) and Sila's aunty (due to sacrificing to save Sila from the polar bear attack)......sigH. My friend cried during theze scenez.........I was juz transfixed.

Narwhals - the unicorns of the sea...
Along the way....you will see amazing arctic creatures...like the Narwhals (above)....and this swimming arctic birdz....then the Rocky refuge island.........
It's very sad cuz the animals lost their natural homes....and were forced to venture out into unknown boundaries...
anywAyz, I feel that there is a small factor of imaginative ficiton weaved into the non-fiction setting.......I mean, they must have followed the same animal for about 10 years to complete the life cycle....but is the Nanu the same Nanu? Is Sila the same Sila? hmM..........................i don't know.
In any case, the story ended quite happily....juZ to cheer people up abit, but the ultimate warning to everyone is still about Global Warming - a rotten fruit of humanisation and a sucker of Nature's beauty..........
For people expecting a cartoon out of this show, think it will be 0/5.
But for a person who loves documentary.........I would give 5/5!!! Why? cuZ it'z already quite impossible to do filming in the arctic......somemore you have to assemble separate scenez and weave them into this animal story........oK, final decision iz 5/5!
Let's juz pray for a better world ahead........save our best gift ever - Nature.
PS 1: All images are form Google image search.
PS 2: If you wish to catch this and be warned of Mother Nature's predicament....do it fast cuz thiz movie is obviouzly not selling that well....and it'z gonna be phazed out real soon......sigH.
