Last Saturday was 7th day of the Lunar Chinese New Year. My family went to the Long House to have Yu Sheng. This stall that sells Yu Sheng is actually a chicken rice stall. It is called Bugis St Chuen Chuen Chicken Rice. It sets up a table in front of the stall every year during Chinese New Year period to sell Yu Sheng. This is because not only is it famous for its Chicken Rice, people have also come to visit their stall for the Yu Sheng. The Yu Sheng it sells is deemed to be the cheapest in town. We ordered a small one at the price of $18. You can get bigger servings at $28 or $38 too.
Fa Cai Yu Sheng at the price of $18
We also ordered chicken rice for our dinner. Chicken rice is sold at $3.50 per plate. We ordered half a chicken instead. It only costs $11. This is certainly cheaper than ordering 4 plates of chicken rice. The chicken rice was well cooked and was aromatic. The chicken was tender and the gravy of it complemented the chicken and the rice well. Adding some dark soya sauce, chilli or garlic before eating definitely made it tastier! If you are with alot of friends, you could order a whole chicken at $22 too. It will sure be more economical than ordering several plates. And everybody could have sufficient servings of it.
We also ordered a plate of crystal chicken feet. The side ingredients include onions and scallion. I tried a piece of the chicken feet. It was chewy. It’s like eating cuttlefish. Haha! My sister likes it very much though. I guess it goes well the the gravy. The gravy is a mixture of taste- it tastes spicy, sour and sweet. Order it if you wanna try something different!
