This is the char kway teow stall just beside the "Tian Tian Dao Hokkien Mee" i mentioned last week. And btw, they are not related, they just happen to have similar names...
In fact, these 2 are my favourite stalls in that hawker centre ( Blk 453A Ang Mo Kio Ave 10). I like this Char Kway Teow stall because it really taste good and better than any other average char kway teow. I wont say it's the best, but it's definitely above average.
$2.50 for a plate of char kway teow, quite standard. But i'll recommend guys to order the $3 one.
There are many good qualities of this char kway teow.
Firstly, it's not too oily but it still tastes very good. The "oiliness" level is just right.
Secondly, they still have put bits of fried lard to give the char kway teow. It really tastes better with the lard, i don't like all vegetable oil-cooked char kway teow, though healthier, it lacks the X-factor.
Thirdly, they put lots of "hum".
Forthly, it just taste better! It's really a sinful plate, but the "level of sinfulness" is just right if you control the amount of cockles you eat.
Not too oily, and it''ll make a perfect dinner with a jug of sugar cane juice from next door.
