I've walked past this cafe several times at Novena Square/Velocity, but yesterday was the first time I've eaten at Mingles. At about 3pm, there wasn't much of a crowd, maybe because it was past the lunch hour or that there were other eateries in the same area competing for patrons. The cafe is tucked right beside Deli Bistro, and is brightly lit and has colourful interiors. The unique thing about this cafe is that there is another extension with about 6 tables ten metres away. At that extension, you can get a slight peek from the sun above and be left alone at the quieter corner, as compared to the main shopfront where crowds stream past. But that doesn't mean there's any bit of inconvenience when ordering as there is a waitress stationed nearby to readily attend to your requests. The set meals are a value for money as they come with a soup-of-the-day, desserts (3 choices : brownie with ice cream, waffle with ice cream, sundae with 2 scoops), a drink (coffee/tea/rootbeer/pepsi/ice lemon tea) and of course, the main course. The proportions are not too stingy, as we left Mingles satisfied and feeling very full. The most expensive set meals are $14.90 (inclusive of GST), like the one I ordered : Sausage and Rosti. There are many other choices for the set meals. The sausage is of your choice as well, you can choose from 3 kinds of chicken sausages, 3 kinds of pork sausages and 2 different beef sausages.
The other mains like fish and chips ($12.90 for the set) and grilled fish with passion fruit sauce ($13.90 I think) are also quite worth the money.
I would say, for the price you pay and the service you get, Mingles would be a good place to rest your tired feet after a day of shopping.
