Being an avid fan of oysters and sashimi, international buffet is definitely a great attraction to me. I will only go for it when there is a promotion, like in this case, there is this UOB 1-for-1 promotion where we only need to pay the price of one for two persons. Otherwise,, it is really too costly to pay like 100 over bucks for a meal. I went to check out the UOB website and realise that it was having a 1-for-1 in Cafe Brio's at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. Since we have not eaten there before (i think we went to 3 or 4 international buffets previously), we decided to head down for a try. Initially, I thought that it would be packed with people so I made a reservation early. When I reached there, I was quite worried about the quality of the food as there were many vacant seats (maybe because it was a weekday night and I took the 2nd timing, from 830pm to 1030pm; 1st timing was from 6pm to 8pm). We settled down fast and began attacking the oysters and sashimi. I would say the oysters are fresh. Although some are a bit small, they were served cold and fresh and me and my bf had dozens of them!! The sashimi on the other hand is normal, not fantastic, we only ate some as we focus our attention on the oysters, which I feel is more fresh. After the appetizers, we walked around to look for other food. There were quite a variety. There was drunken prawns, cooked food, salads, bread, roasted nuts chicken, lor mee, assorted cheese and a range of desserts The drunken prawns were fresh! The live prawns were taken right out of the tank and cooked immediately. However, I found the soup too salty for my preference. I tried the different kinds of salad, not too bad, they have a wide range with clams, mussels to the normal vegetables salad. For the cooked food section, I especially LOVE the sirloin steak dipped in goose liver and morel sauce. The sauce was delicious! I cant get enough of it. Compared to that, the roasted nuts chicken was less appealing and too dry for me as I don't really enjoy the sauce that goes with it. I didnt try the bread and cheese section. The desserts look appealing, but when I try all of them, I only like a few. The cream puffs and one of the chocolate dessert was quite nice. The chocolate fondue was alright. I tried a strawberry cake that was too sour and a a peach cake that was too normal. Didnt try the ice cream as I was too full. We ended the buffet with fruits (watermelon, guava, dragonfruit). Overall, I would visit this place again as there are some fresh food and nice food. On top of that, the service was pretty good and prompt and with the UOB promotion, it is definitely a good bargain!
