There is this zi char stall my friend recommended me to go last week. But unlike the normal zichar where you order rice to accompany all the side dishes, here people usually order their speciality - XO Sliced Fish/Fishhead Beehoon.

The zichar stall is located just opposite the swimming complex in holland village. If you are driving or walking from buona vista, it's located at the end of the road, right inside.

A big bowl of sliced fish beehoon for the 6 of us. I quite like the soup, which unlike the normal sliced fish beehoon you ate at normal hawker centres and coffeeshops, the soup here has a more unique taste. Yah, as the name suggests, it sure have some XO flavour. But nevertheless, the alcohol flavour isn't really that strong and you surely won't get drunk eating this. Anything else, it is good that it isn't very milky. Other than that, i would only say there is a generous amount of sliced fish in the soup, and it's fresh.

The prawn paste chicken wing is the de-factor standard dish that people eating here will order. As i can see while walking to get the drinks, almost every one order this too. The chicken wings are indeed crispy and well-fried, no red meat whatsoever, but i think the prawn paste flavour isn't strong enough. I'd prefer it the prawn paste taste to be more intense.

Of all the dishes we ordered, i quite like this - the ngoh hiam balls, very crispy and it tastes just right. And it tastes even better with the sour plum sauce that comes with it. I think children will like this too.

I dun like their veges, cos there's too much stem. And the ginger taste is quite strong, not to my liking.

The claypot tofu comes with lots of many other ingredients in it, like fish meat, mushroom, veges etc etc. But i think the ginger taste is too overwhelming, even the gravy is full of it. I dun like it.

Overall, i think the zichar here, especially the sliced fish beehoon is not bad, but a bit over-rated, cos my friend told me it is so good. Nevertheless, it's still not bad.

This Famous XO Stall Has Moved!! Saturday, 17 April 2010 - Written by Mary-Anne Hi!    I dropped by that Buona Vista coffee shop where the fish soup stall once was, and that whole place had been newly renovated into yet another China-infested foodcourt!    I asked the drinks operator (who most likely runs the new XO stall which tries to emulate the original stall run by the previous fat owner), and he tried to trick me into thnking that the famous stall still exists in the same foodcourt but under new ownership. I had my doubts and asked him again. This time, he reluctantly revealed that the previous XO stall had moved away and a new XO fish soup stall has replaced it. As expected, he refused to tell me the relocation address of the previous stall.     Does anyone have any idea where the new location is?? If you do, pls let everyone know.
