Seriously, would I even need to comment? The good brandname of Goodwood Park with Durian Pastries is known by all slightly more than amateur foodies. No joke. They described their Durian Mousse as “Legendary”. I wonder why I have no doubts of it at all. It takes a mouth to understand why. It’s good. Due to overwhelming demand for another bite, I bought a second Durian Mousse just 3 days after we had a 1.3kg one, going at approx $44 after 15% UOB/Citibank credit/debit discount. It’s located at a pastry counter inside Goodwood Park, called the Deli.
There are an assorted up to 10 Durian Pastries and Cakes, sold only when the D24 Durian is in season every year, which means 1March to 31July this year. 5 months per year. What a torture.
A surprise of how a simple 2 layered spongecake with lots of generous Durian Mousse made from pulp of the D24 kings, topped with spongecake cubes sprinkled with sugar icing, a simpleton in appearance but Majesty in taste. It taste exactly like a good durian, chilled, ripped of shells and rid of seeds, minus the unexpectedness factor you get from the durians in the taste between sweetness or bitterness, and an even spread of ripeness that oh~ I swear you may feel like digging into the cake, no joke, dig into the cake with a spoon!
I bought the durian puffs too. At $1.80/puff before discount, and durian pulp cream taller than the puffs itself, you wonder if the durian is complementary to the puffs or are the puffs decorative to the durian cream. Too bad my mouth requires a couple of bites to finish all the puff; I imagine how some would enjoy a whole puff in 1 mouth, just like an unseeded durian. Too bad the puff is not as good as the Durian Mousse. It’s a lot lighter and softer and therefore, thinner. I say, the puffs are never good enough as a substitute for its legendary durian mousse, so just go for the mousse, don’t waste your time.
You can call up the Deli at 6730 1786. And please, defrost your cake as they suggested, if not, the cake would just fail to fascinate. You need a soft cake to enjoy a mousse, not anything near hardness when frosted. Defrost it.

Damn. The localking server needs an upgrade. I spent time posting only to have sending failure and not a draft was saved. Localking needs to improve on this.
