This Indonesian restaurant called Garuda Padang located in VivoCity is an unorthodox. It differs from the widely populated Sanur restaurant and Rice Table in mny ways. It is more upbeat as you can tell from the restaurant decor (pure and white), a far cry from its food though. In addition, they allow guests to select their food off the counters. The service is speedy as food has been cooked and displayed over the counter. ? The main disappointment is that there are too few selections and not everything on the menu was available. As a result, I ordered Rendang Daging Sapi (Beef Rendang),Sambal Sotong Petai ,Kangkong.
Those dishes are unbearable spicy and my tummy was feeling hot and churning for a really long time.If you have a fiery tastebuds , you shld try. Think they offer quite exotic food like Ayam Kampung Panggang (Grilled Rural Chicken),Gulai Daun Ubi (Sweet Potatoes Leaves Curry),Ayam Pop (Butter Chicken),Ayam Goreng Cabe Hijau (Green Chilli Fried Chicken). I am surprised to discover that Garuda Padang which has a chain in Indonesia, is in fact under the management of Tung Lok Organisation. Known for its upscale Chinese restaurants, Tung Lok ventures into new ground with this spicy offering. Heard that there is another outlet in Carnhill Circle. May drop by someday again to train my tongue. :P
