First of all, I have sampled both the Wisma & Vivo Famous Prawn Noodle. Comparatively, the Wisma version is tastier and somewhat less watery than the Vivo PN. I thgt their standard will be leveled. Due to my utter disappointment, I pay $4 for a plate which I can find it anywhere else. At the end of day, I still believe that PN is still PN. You can't get anything special or terrific from a plate of yellow noodles with some squid, prawns, fishcakes and sambal chili.

I believe the selling point for this shop is to display the man with the straw hat poster. Does this remind of you the uncle selling Carrot cake in Clementi? Both of them are famous for their hat prior their culinary skills. Let's put it this way, those who wants to be famous shld wear a straw hat or perhaps, a flashy shirt or a golden ROLEX watch. Attract your customer first to come to try your food?

Other characteristics of this stall is that they cook noodles for several customers in a large wok plus serve your noodles in a cone on a plate. To save their precious earning time, they can serve up to 10 plates per wok. The que is always long but pple think what the heck, the guy is whipping up noodles so fast. Well....nxt time you going to Republic, if the que for rest of the stalls is superb long, you may wan to try this stall.

Food Republic @ Vivo City - Lau Di Fang - 28/06/08
Saturday, 28 June 2008 - Written by anoymous
Food Republic is one place I often avoid. The food is very expensive despite its wide variety. And the place is always packed with curious customers. It's always difficult to find a seat and when you are eating, people keep watching you finish your food and not mentioning people walking around brushing against you when they look for seats.

We are all sick of eating set meals. Thus my dad bought ala carte food from the curry rice stall instead of the stipulated set consisting of meat, vege & egg.

He ordered one vege side and a fish on a plate of white rice topped with curry gravy. He was charged $7.50.

The receipt read:

Vegetable x1 $1.00
Fish x2 $6.00
2 @ $3.00
Rice x1 $0.50
Total $7.50

Dad explained that he pointed to the chef in white cap an order of vege and an order of fish. However, the lady cashier counted the fish as 2 pieces simply because it was broken into 2 pieces when scooping it from the main dish.

As a typical Singaporean, we didn't really make a big fuzz out of it to avoid trouble. Dad just paid up unwillingly. We just swear that we won't ever go back to that stall that's all...

Poor me gotta hear dad's nagging all the way home.

Lesson learnt : Just stick with set meals. :(

 Recommendations for Prawn Noodles
Friday, 29 February 2008 - Written by John
Last week, my wife and I went to Bukit Timah Hawker Centre. I wanted to eat wanton mee and my wife wanted to try the new stall which was selling Pork Rib Prawn Mee. After my wife ordered the Pork Rib Prawn Mee dry, I took a bite from her. The taste of the chilli was marvellous! Believe it or not?! I went for another round, but this time, it was Pork Rib Prawn Mee! We shall be back for more!( The boss's cooking may be slow, but it tasted heavenly. Worth waiting for ! )
