It was our christmas dinner, me and my friends are at Holland Village looking for a place who still have seats. Well, we didn't make any reservations, and it's pretty hard to get a table for five on christmas eve at the Holland V. We found some restaurants with empty tables, but all are reserved. Sigh!
We almost want to settle at crystal jade, when we went pass Delifrance, which is very empty. It seems like people will simply link delifrance with only bread, and not a place for dinner. Well, me too. I'm actually quite reluctant to go in, but that's the only place we are left with.
Only 3 tables are occupied the time we went in. So we got the luxury to choose an eight seater instead.
Despite the holiday season, Delifrance Bistro didnt have any special set meals. But the good thing is, the price range is quite cheap as to normal restaurant standards. There's this "minute beef steak" which costs only $10.90, but we don't know how "minute" it would be thought. Skip.
We ordered 3 sets of the "Assortiments Di Grillade", which is actually mixed grill in french, serves 2. Each set costs $29.90 and comes with free flow drinks, a good catch.

A really big plate of mixed grill
A super big plate of the mixed grill comes with 2 beef steak, 2 lamp chops, 1 chicken chop, 2 sausages, 2 sunny-side up eggs, whipped potato and a salad.
Well, the beef steak are very around 75% done i think, yet it's still tender and juicy. My friend said its the best portion in this mixed grill set, and it's better than the one he ate at Hog's Breath.
The lamb chop is almost as good as the steak, though i think it can be more tender.
The chicken chop is quite good too. They use thigh meat and it's very tender and juicy.

The sausages.
I think they are a bit salty. But overall is still quite good.

sunny-side up eggs
You don't usually get eggs in western restaurants, and i'm quite delighted to have them.

salad
The salad is not bad. They used a variety of vegetables, all raw and crunchy. It makes the meal less sinful.
Until we are half way through the meal, the waiter came running up the stairs to our table with the sauces. Win liao lor! Btw, the waiters there seem to be running around a lot, even though they have very few customers. And they even do that when they are carrying the dishes!

The mushroom sauce is good. It's savoury and consists of slices of button mushroom and black pepper, giving a very "grill" flavour.

The bbq sauce is quite strong. I think it removes the meat flavour(esp the lamb smell) if you dip a little more sauce on your meat. Great for someone who can't stand the lamb smell. Though i would stress there isn't much of it in the lamb chop.

Coco-mint ice-cream
For the set meals, we are also entitled to buy the ice-cream dessert for a mere $2. It costs $6.50 originally, good bargain. This is the mint ice-cream with coconut. There are chunks of coconut meat in it, very nice and chewy.
Overall, the dinner is really quite good and affordable. Each person is only $17.55 for this big plate of meats and nice ice-cream dessert, plus free-flow soft drinks. Quite a good catch, can go again.
