After a long and tiring week at work, so it was Friday I had dinner with friends at the Farmland Porridge Steamboat Restaurant. This restaurant is opposite the South City Plaza Shopping Complex in Serdang, which is another branch of the main one located along Jalan Pudu, KL.
Steamboat is common to many eateries, there are plenty outlets in Klang Valley but have you ever tried one instead of using clear soup base but porridge base. Since I have heard much about it for quite some time, kinda strange about this porridge based steamboat so I decided to try it!
Well, since there was three of us, we ordered a steamboat set for two (RM27.80) to share. Without any hesitation we ordered porridge soup base and as always by any chance my friends won’t missed out Tom Yam soup, therefore another portion is filled with Tom Yam soup. This came with raw food which consists of prawns, fish balls, meat, egg and vegetables. Aside from these items we ordered, they also have other items. Having finished we also ordered Mee Hoon (RM1.50), Fish Ball (RM3.50), Crab & Fish Roll (RM4) and Vegetable Roll (RM4).
Wow! The raw foods were fresh and the porridge was smooth silky, taste good. I don’t know how to describe it but in terms of tastewise it’s simply heaven! Not bad with the melt in the mouth filling. This time round we were a bit fussed when we received the bill. There were charges on steamed nuts (RM2.50)! OMG, the restaurateur should have informed us earlier if this so-called starter is not included in the set price.
Overall we thought the porridge steamboat served here was not too bad but pricewise not cheap either.
